Dolphins' Ted Ginn to start; Lorenzo Booker remains inactive
MIAMI GARDENS - Dolphins receiver Ted Ginn Jr. is expected to make his second start of the season today against the Patriots.
Ted Ginn Jr., a former Ohio State standout selected No. 9 overall, will replace Chris Chambers, who was traded to San Diego for a second-round pick earlier this week.
Ted Ginn Jr. and second-year receiver Derek Hagan have split the repetitions in practice all week, and both will be used in a three-man rotation with Marty Booker.
Ted Ginn Jr., who started last Sunday's loss to Cleveland, has three receptions for 83 yards. His 27.7 yards per catch average leads the team.
Rookie tailback Lorenzo Booker, who had been working as a receiver this week, remained amongst the eight players inactive for today's game.
Booker wasn't needed because the Dolphins now have five receivers on the 53-man roster after activating rookie receiver Kerry Reed from the practice squad on Saturday.
Also on the inactive list were three of the four defensive linemen (Sam Rayburn, Jesse Mahelona and Anthony Bryant) the Dolphins signed the past two weeks. Defensive end Derreck Robinson was the only one to make the list and he'll likely help fill in for Vonnie Holliday, who remains sidelined by the fractured right ankle he suffered on Sept. 30 in the loss to Oakland.
Rodrique Wright will start his third game in Holliday's place.
For the Patriots, tight end Kyle Brady will start in place of Benjamin Watson, who is sidelined by an ankle injury, and tailback Laurence Maroney (groin) is expected to play his first game in four weeks.
